Your Responsibilities: 

  • Operate plant equipment in accordance with established operating procedures and good manufacturing practices. Includes startup of equipment by opening feed and discharge valves, monitoring level gauges, temperature indicators and pressure indicators. 
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities. Includes minor repairs such as changing oil, tighten belts and major repairs such as compressor overhauls. Most maintenance activity is minor repairs. 
  • Monitors equipment during operation and maintains operating logs and records. Includes walking through the plant and recording instrument readings. 
  • Unload raw material from bulk tank trucks. Trucks are unloaded by connecting unloading and air hoses to truck and opening valves on truck and storage tank. 
  • Load product into bulk trucks. This is accomplished by connecting hoses to truck and loading valves and opening valves.  

A pump is used for transfer of material. 

  • Replenish chemicals in polishing towers. The tower is drained with a pump of spent solution and cleaned chemically by circulating cleaning solution with a pump. The bottom hand hole is removed to allow residue to be taken out. The tower is filled with water and chemicals. Chemicals are added manually. 
  • Unload and load cylinders onto trucks. Cylinder carts and forklift are provided for this task. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Essentially no experience required.  
  • Mechanical / Maintenance Experience preferred. 
  • Computer literate is a plus. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
